NASCAR ride along 10/23/04
What a great time this turned out to be. Margaret, Walker, and I headed up to Richmond International Raceway this past Saturday so I could cash in the ride along ticket I won from 92.9. It was a beautiful day and just chilly enough to wear a jacket.
I waited in line for about an hour and finally got suited up. The anticipation was killing me because I knew how intense it was going to be. The #10 car pulls up into pit row to pick me up but the guy who was coordinating the ride along told me that they needed to change out a tire. I said it was ok because I kind of wanted to ride in the #8 car. He said that he wanted me to wait for the tire change because the driver of the #10 car is the boss and that he could drive as fast as he wanted.
After I climbed into the car (which wasn't easy by the way) and got buckled up I asked the driver how fast he was going to go and he said 150mph.....NICE!! We skidded out of pit row and hit the turn faster than I imagined we would. It's hard to describe the feeling I had when he the turns but it was like my entire body shifted to the right. Since I was buckled in pretty tight that made it feel even more strange.
The 3 laps was over before I knew it and it was time to go home. I had a great time and I would HIGHLY recommend it!
