I woke up sick to my stomach...

...because I realized what happened last night, in fact, happened. After dinner last night I proceeded to go out and run a couple of errands. The car (yes, the new one) was parked in the garage so I got in and started it up. Margaret comes out into the garage to tell me something and by then I had pushed the button to allow the garage door to open. Both of our dogs were loose in the garage because they were eating but as soon as they saw the garage door open they jetted. Normally I kennel them up when I leave but for some reason I didn't this time. Instinct prevailed (unfortunately) and I opened my door up to try and stop them from running out of the garage...well that didn't work. So I got out to try and grab them...that didn't work either. Much to my chagrin I realize that I had put the car into reverse earlier and didn't realize it until the car started...well...reversing.

At that point Margaret was hysterical. Hearing her reaction made me think that the car had ran over one or both of the dogs. But the reasons for her hysteria were simple....garage door bent to hell...drivers side door busted and bent back to the front of the vehicle. You see...we have a load bearing pole in the middle of our two car garage. When I got out of the car to grab the dogs the door remained open and proceeded to bend back until the inevitable happened.

The garage door is fine and operates as it always had. I wish I could say the same for the door to our car; you can't even close it. We called Geico to file a claim and an adjuster will be out to see us in 24 - 48 business hours. The car will need to be towed to the Honda dealership I'm sure due to the abundant draft an open door causes when it's driven at high speeds. Let the Geico jokes begin.

Mood after typing this post: Never better. I have my health...I have a beautiful wife....and I have a precious son who is just starting to wake up.

Oh, that stinks...I started reading it thinking something bad was going to happen to one of the dogs...at least they're OK. I'm sure they mean more to you than the car anyway.

thanks, chastity. i'm glad the dogs are ok but i sure do love my car. ;) good bit of news...the adjuster came out earlier this morning. our deductable is $500 but we only have to pay out $300 because he subtracted $200 because of a minor scratch on the back window since it won't be getting fixed. total charges to fix the vehicle...$1294.

Well, coming from someone who managed to wreck her car within 90 days of buying it, I can definitely sympathize. Yeah, you have all those wonderful things going for you but it can just suck to have your car look all messed up. Never fear - it will be fixed!

Walker is adorable, btw!
