I am getting quite large, but feel great. Sleeping has not been a problem and hopefully I will continue to sleep long and well until the baby gets here.

Her resolve amazes me.

At 5/23/2004 10:45:07 PM, Matt & Margaret said... Margaret said something to me tonight that really prompted a lot of thought. She said that I need to put the laptop down and spend some quality time with her. Reason being that our newborn child will be here before we know it and we should savor all the free/alone time we have with each other. She makes a good point...goodnight! ;)
The past 2 days I've been having lots of Braxton-Hicks contractions. I only feel them without touching my belly every once in a while. The rest of the time I can touch my tummy and it's hard as a rock. Sometimes I wonder if he just got so big this weekend that he's taking up almost all the space in there. I really hope that's what I'm feeling, because if I have a contraction every time I stand up, this will be a long 9.5 weeks.
We went to the dr. yesterday to make sure everything was alright (because I had 4 contractions in an hour) and she checked me and all was well (no dialation, no effacement). She thinks that they were caused by "uterine irritability" because I was bending over while folding clothes a lot the other day when they started. Apparently, when I use my abdominal muscles a bunch, that eventually triggers contractions. The problem is, I haven't used them any more than minimally necessary and I'm still having contractions every once in a while. If I have 4 in an hour again, I will be on bed rest for the rest of the week (not fun when you're this big!!).
I think I'm just dehydrated, so I'll be drinking LOTS of water today and hopefully they will go away for good. It's really hard to see things that need to get done and not be able to do them. Last night, simply reaching for my milk glass while I was sitting on the couch caused one, so cleaning the bathroom and washing clothes are out of the question :(. Matt's in class every night, so it's just not getting done now. Hopefully the water today will help tremendously and I can go back to keeping the house straight.
Please pray that the baby is fine and that my contractions stop and don't start again until God is ready for this little guy to make his entrance. I am 30.5 weeks right now, which is long enough gestation for the baby to survive, but he would probably have to spend a month in the hospital. Each week will be another hurdle, and I will feel MUCH better when I get to 34 weeks and 36 weeks.
I will post again to let you know how I'm fairing with the contractions - thanks for your prayers and well wishes!!
I am happy to report that drinking several gallons of water yesterday helped tremendously. I didn't have any contractions after I got to work yesterday and I was able to get a few things done around the house (though I had to stop and rest often). Thanks for the prayers!!
